The Constellation

The Whole Sky, on One Map

Every authority, statutory code, playbook, persona and scenario in the Toolkit, drawn as one navigable universe — the most authoritative sources at the centre, every connection between them visible and traceable. This is not a picture of the corpus. It is the corpus, and it is the map our AI walks when it answers you.

Nothing here stands alone. That is the entire point.

A three-dimensional map of the Toolkit's sources drawn as a night sky: glowing stars in blues, violets and ambers clustered around a bright centre against deep space, joined by fine lines tracing the connections between them.

How to Read It

Read It Like a Night Sky

Distance from the centre is authority weight. Primary legislation sits at the very centre — the ground everything else stands on. Apex courts and the operative statutory code form the first ring; appellate authority the next; then first-instance decisions and regulator guidance; then historic decisions and practitioner commentary. At the rim sit the people and the situations the doctrine actually lands on. Every line between two stars is a real relationship — one source citing, narrowing, superseding or sitting in tension with another. There is nothing decorative on this map.

The Star Classes

Not Every Star Burns the Same

Four kinds of star, and the difference is honest. Gas giants are the fully worked authorities — paragraph anchors orbiting them like moons, every provision individually addressable. Main-sequence stars are sources fully ingressed and ready to be cited. White dwarfs are the superseded predecessors: literal remnants of dead legislation, kept lit because knowing what a provision replaced is part of reading it properly. Red dwarfs are faint and deliberate — sources our consulting practice has mapped that sit outside the Toolkit's cited corpus, each with its reason recorded inside. The universe is bigger than what we light.

How the AI Uses It

The AI Doesn't Search the Map. It Walks It.

When the Toolkit answers, it cites the paragraph, not just the document — every citation lands on the exact provision. And it reads the map as it goes: when one source cites, narrows or supersedes another, the connected context comes with it. Where authorities genuinely disagree, the map shows the tension honestly. The AI does the analysis. You make the decision.

Why It Holds Up

Catalogue, Index, Answer — Every Pointer Auditable

One chain, auditable end to end. Every star is a real catalogue entry you can open and check against its published source. The retrieval index is built from that same catalogue, so nothing enters an answer that was not already on the map. Every citation points back through the index to the entry, and to the paragraph inside it. When someone asks why you decided what you decided, you can walk exactly the thread they can. That is what defensible means here: showing your reasoning, not claiming to own the right answer. Decision support, not legal advice.
